Flannel Biscuit baby quilt

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

This is a very easy baby quilt to make and is extremely soft.  It reminds me of spring with the bunnies, puppies, cats, bear cubs, and lambs surrounded by butterflies and flowers.

Ready to felt

Ready to felt

Knit, machine felt, dry and wear… quick, cute and warm. The Shanty has the pattern the yarn and the help you need start to finish this little project.

First- get a pattern, get out those big needles and find some wool yarn that will felt- see us at the Shanty for everything you need. Here is the hat ready to be felted next to the hat just felted. Does it look too large?

Second- warm water and a little shampoo in the machine and drop in the hat to agitate. Check in about 3 minutes. Just keep checking- it will felt quickly so don’t forget!

Next, rinse and dry.  I used a bowl from my kitchen for a drying form, you could use anything that doesn’t mind a bit of wet.

Wear proudly!

A knit along is in progress.  This is a great project to learn about provisional cast on.  There are many great videos on the internet.  I used the one in which you held the knitting needle in your left hand and crochet the stitches on your knitting needle.  This is the 1st time that I used it, and it makes a really nice hat band.  I am starting the bodies now-off to watch pairs skating and more knitting.  Please join in and have fun.  Hopefully, I can wear my team USA hat before the end of the Olympics.  Pattern found at http://cleverknits.com.  Look for Olympic Reindeer Hat.
